Day 12 - Sunday, August 9, 2026
I spent the previous evening and the morning trying to figure out the best way home - and found a way. The town of Usti nad Labem was connected to the railway, from there, I would take a train to Prague, then from there I would take a bus to Vienna.
Well, it was not a long ride to Usti nad Labem. I still had an hour or so till the departure of the train to Prague, so I spent the time sight-seeing. The first interesting thing I discovered was that there was a bus carrying cyclists up the hill - and they were quite a few of them. Then, on a wide town square, I faced a church and thought its tower was leaning. I actually asked someone if they thought so, they denied this. Then, as I got closer to the entrance, paved in the pavement, was a sign confirming my observation - indeed, the tower leans up to 2 meters to the side.
The train ride was a pleasant one, in just over an hour I reached the capital city of Czechia around noon. My departure to Vienna was only at 5 pm, so I spent the time (re)discovering the city, where I had been a number of times earlier. A highlight was an excellent ice-cream shop on the shore of the Vistula river.
I reaxched Vienna around 10 pm.
As mentioned, I spent the next couple of days preparing for my presentation (of my bike trios in the Tokaj region) and was eager to continue my trip afterwards. I left for Budapest on Wednesday by train and my trip continued on Friday.
